What Does It Take and Cost to Open a Colon Hydrotherapy Clinic?

Picture of treatment room at Inner Garden Health Clinic in North Vancouver

When I first began practising colon hydrotherapy, I opened a small clinic in my home. This allowed me to keep my expenses low while I gained experience and built my clientele.

When I opened my first clinic in Vancouver, I rented a treatment room inside an existing clinic. The room needed running water, with a bathroom conveniently located nearby. Renting a room was much more affordable than leasing and renovating an entire clinic.

My basic startup and operating costs were:

  • Prime Pacific colon hydrotherapy equipment: Approximately $12,000
  • Plumbing installation: Approximately $1,000
  • Treatment-room rental: Approximately $1,000–$1,500 per month
  • Professional insurance: Approximately $375 per year
  • Online booking software: Approximately $150 per month
  • Disposable speculum kit: Approximately $7 per client

Prime Pacific offered financing for the equipment, so it was not necessary to pay the entire equipment cost upfront. Prime Pacific also manufactures and ships the disposable speculum kits used for each treatment.

Based on these figures, the initial cost to purchase the equipment, complete the plumbing installation, obtain insurance, pay the first month’s rent and online booking software fee (like Jane App) was approximately $14,525–$15,025. This does not include professional training, treatment table, linens, session and cleaning supplies, marketing, a rent deposit or other small business expenses.

You do not need to begin with a large or elaborate clinic. Starting from home—where permitted—or renting a suitable room within an established wellness clinic can significantly reduce your startup costs. As your clientele and income grow, you can expand into a larger clinic.

The most important investments are proper colon hydrotherapy professional training, safe equipment and the ability to provide an excellent client experience. A beautiful clinic is helpful, but your knowledge, professionalism and genuine care for your clients are what build a successful practice.
