Diet for Cleansing & Detoxification:

A few things to remember while cleanse and detoxify: Yeast eats Sugar. Most books on cleansing promote limiting or abstaining from sugars while cleansing. The human body stores excess sugar in the Liver as glycogen, whereas plants store excess sugars as starch. Therefore, limiting consumption of high starch vegetables such as potatoes may be helpful. Wheat bread and wheat pasta can be irritating to the system, as well as refined flours and starches. Many practitioners recommend: Wheat alternatives such as: quinoa, amaranth, millet,  basmati rice, brown rice, kamut, buckwheat, wild rice. These make excellent pastas and hot cereals.

Foods to emphasize while cleansing

  • Vegetables: either steamed or raw (raw, if your digestion is strong).
  • Protein: such as organic free-range chicken, turkey, beef, wild fish, & eggs. You may notice digestion greatly improve by eating proteins with vegetables and carbohydrates (whole grain pastas, breads) with vegetables at another meal.
  • Organic Flax Oil: 1 tablespoon of organic cold pressed flax oil per day. This Essential Fatty Acid not only protects the cells but also helps keep the integrity of the cell wall.
  • Organic Ground Flax Seeds: 2 tablespoons twice daily

I have been coming to ‘Inner Garden’ for a number of months now and intend to continue making this a part of my yearly treatment for my ‘well-being’. I have found that even though i felt fine when I first started; I feel much better balance now.
